Mature Neighborhood Strategy

Thank you to everyone that provided feedback for Chris' presentation at the Mature Neighbourhood Strategy last week.  I attended the event and I am impressed with Strathcona County's proactive approach to identifying solutions and opportunities for future development in mature neighbourhoods.

You are invited to attend a Citizen Circle Meeting on Tuesday, October 30 from 6:30-8:30 pm at GARC.  At the meeting we will be discussing our collective responses to their questionnaire.   If you cannot attend or would like to view the questionnaire prior to the meeting please see attached or visit www.strathcona.ca/matureneighbourhoodstrategy

Now is your chance to have a voice that will help shape the future of our neighbourhood!

Hope to see you Oct. 30,
Tammy Greidanus

~ Mature Neighbourhood Strategy ~
Information on behalf of Councillor Roxanne Carr, Ward 2
What is it?
The Mature Neighbourhood Strategy is a project being undertaken by the Planning & Development Services Department of Strathcona County. The purpose of the project is to determine how redevelopment and infill opportunities are to be considered within the mature neighbourhoods of Sherwood Park in the long‐term. As a starting point, the 11 oldest neighbourhoods of Sherwood Park are being used as a study area and include: Brentwood; Broadmoor Estates; Centre in the Park; Glen Allan; Maple Grove; Maplewood; Mills Haven; Sherwood Heights; Village on the Lake; Westboro; and Woodbridge Farms.
The County wants to begin a discussion with the community to understand what people value about their neighbourhoods and what they would like to see change. We want to be able to encourage investment in the older areas so long as proper consideration is given to location, design and impacts to the existing community. The Mature Neighbourhood Strategy is an opportunity to assess the older areas to ensure they meet the needs of existing and future residents.
Want to get involved?
Stakeholder engagement is crucial as Strathcona County prepares its Mature Neighbourhood Strategy. The community can provide valuable input regarding the opportunities and challenges associated with infill and redevelopment within their community. Accessing the full wisdom of what stakeholders have to offer at the beginning of the project is essential. Between October 17 and December 5, 2012, we are asking residents to get together with your neighbours and provide responses to a questionnaire through something known as Citizen Circles.

GLEN ALLAN RESIDENTS
A special Citizen Circle has been organized by a group of your neighbours and myself for all Glen Allan residents at the Glen Allan Recreation Complex on Tuesday, October 30th from 6:30-8:30pm.  I hope to see you there!
