Fun facts about Glen Allan!
  • Did you know that the neighbourhood of Glen Allan is not named after a guy named Glen? The "Glen" in Glen Allan refers to a wooded area.
  • Allan is the name of the family who last owned the land that Glen Allan is built on.
  • The Allan's were a farming family known for their production of turkeys, up to 300 in a year, and dairy.
  • Mrs. Allan was famous for her huge vegetable garden which was sprinkled with flowers. It was so big that she hired neighbourhood kids to help her weed it.
  • The Allan's planted an unnamed cherry tree on their farm in the early 1970s that has become known as the Evan’s cherry and is believed to be local to the Edmonton area.
The Glen Allan History Walk is a virtual tour that explores the unique features and stories of the place which many call home. The stops along the way delve into the hidden history that residents may not realize exist in their own neighbourhood.  Get outdoors and enjoy! 

A Little Free Library is a 'take a book, share a book' free book exchange. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Each Little Free Library has a unique, personal touch. In Glen Allan there are 4 Little Free Libraries, here is a Google Map with their locations. Thank you to all of the residents who are sharing their favourite books with their neighbours!

Glen Allan Traffic Calming Project
