Bottle Drive - January 4

WANTED - Empty Cans, Milk/Juice Containers & Bottles Volunteers from our community are raising funds to take the previous Gilmore Park playground equipment to St. Helene, Honduras.  If you live in the Gilmore Park Community League catchment area please leave your bottles on your front step by 10 AM on Saturday, January 4.  Volunteers will come by before noon to pick-up your donation (please mark your bag GPCL).  To make other arrangements for pick-up or drop-off email gilmorepark@live.com Thank you for your support & Happy New Year!

Pumpkin Festival Fun!

Halloween and community spirit was shining bright at our Pumpkin Festival held at Jean Vanier School on Sunday, October 27!  The Gilmore Park Community League, in Glen Allan, was pleased to partner with Jean Vanier to host this spooktacular event.  It was a successful afternoon thanks to the support of Gilmore Park community volunteers, JV Parent Council, Principal Mr. Moroziak, and all of the families that baked goods and came to partake in the fun.  Even Mayor Carr and Ward 2 Councillor Dave Anderson joined in and supported the festivities.  We are pleased to report that over $2000 was raised towards re-locating the previous Gilmore Park and Jean Vanier playground equipment to a third world county.  The Gilmore Park Community League would also like to thank the following businesses who supported this event: Evergreen Horticultural Services, Nottingham Sobey's & Baseline Road Save-on-Foods, Lacombe Corn Maze, Confetti Sweets, Dora Berry - Epicure & Landscape Design, Ter

Pumpkin Festival - October 27

Get your pumpkins for Halloween at the event or pre-order by Oct. 18 (email gilmorepark@live.com ).  Enjoy baked goods, Halloween crafts and games, a Haunted House & more!!  All support to re-locate our previous playground to a community in need is appreciated.  Hope to see you at Jean Vanier School Sunday, October 27 from 1-5pm - Admission is Free.

Movie in the Park - October 4

The Gilmore Park Community League invites you to Gilmore Park Friday, October 4 at 7pm for the playing of  Epic the movie . All proceeds from food and beverage sales will go towards efforts to relocate the previous Gilmore Park playground equipment to Honduras.  Hope you can join us for this fun, free, family friendly event!

The Park is Officially Open!

The August 7 Gilmore Park Grand Opening was a success with over 250 people in attendance.  Participants of the official ribbon cutting ceremony included County Clothes Line Foundation Director Lynn Lavoie, MLA Cathy Olesen, Strathcona County Mayor Linda Osinchuk, Gilmore Park Community League President Tammy Greidanus, Ward 2 Councillor Roxanne Carr, Rotary Club Centennial President Lynda Walsh, and Gilmore Park Community League Board Members. Special thank you to Pasta Pantry, Nitza's Pizza on Graham Road, Happy Faces Daycare, Dave Anderson (Milt's Rootbeer), and Confetti Sweets for providing food and refreshments for the event.

Thank you Strathcona County Planning and Development Services for organizing a Hand Stamp Event in Gilmore Park on July 8!  Over 40 kids made their mark in the park by stamping their hands in the cement pad for the new picnic shelter.  Stay tuned for details of a Grand Opening Celebration set for Wednesday, August 7!

Bottle Drive - June 22

Neighbours, Time to clean out your garages in preparation for the Canada Day long weekend!  We will be collecting bottles in Gilmore Park on Saturday, June 22 from 10am-noon.  Please stop by and drop off your empties!  Perhaps you might also consider collecting bottles from your friends and family to help a great cause. All proceeds will go towards the Gilmore Park Equipment Re-location Project. Your bottle donations are greatly appreciated and have proved to be an excellent source of revenue for us in the past. Not to mention the positive impact on the environment to recycle!  GPCL

Provincial Funding Received

The Gilmore Park Community League received $86,250 from the provincial Community Facility Enhancement Program.  June 4 MLA Cathy Olesen presented a cheque to league members including Councillor Roxanne Carr.  The Gilmore Park Community League is looking forward to partnering with the Emmanuel Foundation and Rotary Club Centennial to re-locate the old equipment to a community in need.

Pitch-In and Clean up Gilmore Park! When: Sunday, May 5 at 3:00pm Where: Gilmore Park What you need: Gloves,good shoes,tools for picking/raking-up things Why: Search all grass areas and trees for any garbage and harmful objects Garbage bags will be provided! After clean-up, stay for an all ages soccer event!!! (if you bring a ball put your name on it) Let's come together and enjoy the park, let's be neighbourly!

Gilmore Park Community League President, Tammy Greidanus met with members of the Rotary Club Sherwood Park Centennial today.  The Rotary contribution to the Gilmore Park Revitalization has assisted the community in making their park upgrade dreams a reality this summer.

Thank you County Clothes Line Foundation!

The Gilmore Park Revitalization project received a generous cheque today from the County Clothes Line Foundation.  This amazing foundation has given out 1.5 million dollars over the last 29 years.  The Gilmore Park Community League was honoured to be a grant recipient among 8 worthy organizations who are spearheading local projects, programs and events.

March 21, 2013 Pasta Pantry in Sherwood Park supported the Gilmore Park Revitalization Project by hosting 'Pasta for the Park'.  Our sincere appreciation goes to Pasta Pantry owner Nathan Satanove for his generous donation of $1,000.

Pasta Pantry, located at 101 Granada Blvd., is donating a portion of all sales to the Gilmore Park Revitalization Project between 4-8pm on Thursday, March 21.  Please join us for great food and free entertainment!

Annual General Meeting

The Gilmore Park Community League Annual General Meeting is being held on Tuesday, March 5 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Glen Allan Recreation Center.  Everyone in the neighbourhood is encouraged to attend!  Learn about upcoming park plans and events, share your input & socialize with your neighbours.

Cookies and Conversation with Councillor Carr

Cookies and Conversation: February 9th at 11 am to 2 pm Sherwood Park Mall Ward 2 Open House on Saturday the 9th that the whole family can come to! More great news for our neighbourhood!

Hello Neighbours, Today a news release was issued by the federal government officially announcing that $52,850 has been allocated towards the   Gilmore  Park Re vitalization project, see below. I am pleased our application for funding through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund was successful!  Thank you to everyone that took the time to email Minister Tim Uppal, he personally contacted me to share the good news and planning is underway to utilize those funds this summer.
