Safety Tips

Protect your property and make our neighbourhood safer!

  • Get to know your neighbours
  • Look out for your neighbours
  • Take photographs of valuables and/or mark them
  • Record serial numbers
  • Store valuables in a locked shed or garage
  • Maintain your property
  • Add lighting around your home
  • Install a security system
  • Before going out of town tell your neighbours when you will be away so that they can watch for activity out of the ordinary, put lights and/or a radio on a timer, ask someone to mow your lawn / shovel walks and check windows and doors.
  • Follow the #9PMRoutine. People are encouraged to follow a routine checklist every night to double check their property is locked up and safe.
  • Disclose safety/burglary incidents on the Gilmore Park Community League E-Newsletter or Social Media sites to alert neighbours
  • Get involved in neighbourhood safety efforts
  • Citizens can report select crimes online. All reports will be followed up with a phone call by a police officer within five (5) business days. Criteria for the incident to be reported online is available on the Alberta RCMP Online Crime Report page.
If you see a theft in progress, do not intervene. Call the non-emergency line 24/7 at 780-467-7741. Provide the RCMP with as much information as possible: hair colour - direction of travel - gender - clothing - mode of transportation.
